Animal Crossing sketch and music

Haven't been feeling my best, so Animal Crossing.

Animal Crossing 3DS Theme
A piano rendition of parts of the Animal Crossing 3DS game's theme. The original game's theme is my favorite, but this is second to it. It's very calming. I'm glad they brought back the piano as a focus in this main theme.

Animal Crossing Autumn

Yeah it's winter here but it hasn't felt like winter yet so. Just a simple sketch to calm me down. These are three of my own Animal Crossing characters; Curtis, Tony, and Desiree.

Doodles

Doodles 12

Haven't been drawing enough lately. So these are some real quick/mindless doodles during class. Oh man I was mostly asleep when I drew these.

Majora's Mask Link doodle

Majora's Mask Link Doodle

This is the messiest one yet. I was just screwing around for about half an hour. Very little thought went into this so it's a total mess.

Paper Zelda music and some doodles

 Paper Zelda-- Gerudo Valley
The music for Gerudo Valley's appearance in my still-yet-to-exist Paper Zelda fan game. Was made to be a bit more "western". It's low-quality and compressed BECAUSE. Sorry.

 -------------------------------------------------------

Paper Zelda-- Title Theme
The title theme for my Paper Zelda fan game. Once again, trying to come up with some sort of mix between Zelda and Paper Mario's musical styles. As with a lot of the music for this I've gone to the Thousand-Year Door for reference. What do you think, does it work well enough to get the job done?

 -------------------------------------------------------

Captain Falcon sketch

Pretty lame sketch of Captain Falcon. The muscles killed me and the proportions are off (although if he has a big head, I think he has a big head in the official artwork I based this on too).
I suck at thiiis.

Made using: SketchBook Pro (sketching), Photoshop (shading)

 -------------------------------------------------------

Fi sketch

A fast doodle of Fi from Zelda: Skyward Sword.
I'm not really improving much on anything, but oh well. Just gotta keep doodling.

Samus Aran

Samus sketch 02
Photobucket
Lousy sketch of Samus Aran.
I'm currently in a huge rut with my drawings-- my cartoon stuff is all staying exactly the same and I'm not improving on it at all, and everything else like the above sketch is something I'm just not good at and not really able to improve in either.

This thing just looks like a huge scratchy mess to me. I'd be screwed if I actually tried making a neat, finished piece out of something like this.

Doodles and music

SBP Doodles 11

The top row I just did today, the bottom row is pretty old stuff I just haven't put up yet. Characters that aren't mine I should mention are Kyle Hyde from Hotel dusk in the top-right, and Holly's character Paint in the bottom-left.

Darkwing Duck Theme
My rendition of the Darkwing Duck theme song (which may be the coolest cartoon theme song ever).

Miscellaneous Doodles

Miscellaneous Game Doodles 04

More miscellaneous game character doodles. Here, clockwise from the top-left, we have the Protagonist from Persona 3 (twice), Ness from EarthBound, Sonic, Viewtiful Joe, and a caravan of characters from Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (on GameCube).

SBP Doodles 10

Just miscellaneous characters of mine, characters I made up off the top of my head for no reason, a few doodles of Link, and a doodle of EL in the top-right there.

Some fan music

Animal Crossing (GameCube) Title Screen
My recreation, by ear, of the title screen music from the GameCube version of Animal Crossing. I really love this song, and though I like Wild World's theme too, I think this one is much better. Did you know you can hear the full song if you open the lid of the GameCube right when the title screen appears?

MegaMan 10 Wily Stage Boss Fight RPG (unfinished)
I always thought this music from MegaMan 10 would go well in some kind of JRPG.

Dark World (Genesis/MegaDrive arrangement)
The Dark World from A Link to the Past, but with Genesis-style sounds. Probably isn't even remotely accurate, I just used a soundfont for the synths, so it's not actually playing on any of the proper hardware. But I LOVE the sound of those old-school Genesis games.

K.K. Slider-- My Place (guitar)
"My Place" from Animal Crossing on acoustic guitar (not a real one, soundfont guitars). I like how this song seemed optimistic and sad/reminiscent at the same time. Or maybe it's just me.

Splash Woman
I updated this one with newer soundfonts. Splash Woman's stage theme from MegaMan 9.

Littleroot Town (unfinished)
It's just updated with newer soundfonts. I didn't actually progress any on the song. It's Littleroot Town from Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald.

Whoops, forgot to put this here.

I haven't drawn much lately and I need to.
I'm just in a slump as usual and I can't draw anything. So I drew this for no
real reason. And it was fun, sorta.

The textures here are overkill and didn't really use much thought
(just finding free textures and slapping them over there in Flash, with
the exception of the dirt spatter which was a grunge brush in Photoshop), but
I felt like doing something slightly different than usual.

It's not evident here but I also tried a slightly different process
this time which involved laying out the background colors first to get an idea
of how dark everything else should be (which, oddly, I don't do very much).
That and the fact that there are once again no outlines, so coloring was quite different
too (and in many cases I really fudged the "shadows" so certain things wouldn't
blend together, like in the hair).

Oh and I still can't color or light a scene to save my life.

I know the watermark sort of messes it up and makes it tricky with the textures and lighting, sorry.

Knight Man

Knight Man
Photobucket

Screwing around with gradients again using only Flash to color.
Knight Man from MegaMan 6 is my favorite robot master, design-wise, although I really don't do him justice. [link]
Shame he was from such a lousy game.

This demonstrates quite clearly that I have absolutely no knowledge of how lighting or colors work and the watermark doesn't make it any less confusing to look at, sorry about that.

I dunno the story behind this picture, feel free to make one up.

Skyward Sword Flash stuff

I was bored.

Skyward Sword with gradients

Photobucket
I love Flash so much that sometimes I draw pictures specifically to see how much I can do with it by only using Flash.

This time I drew Link and Zelda from the upcoming Skyward Sword (based more on the in-game visuals than the official art). After sketching in SketchBook Pro, the rest of this was done solely in Flash using gradients to color. It mostly ended up looking as stupid as it sounded.

I also drew a regular version, as well as some various experiments about how to color it.

Some unfinished music

Yeah I haven't been drawing like I should lately.
So here is stuff I've been procrastinating with instead.

Metal Man (unfinished)
Metal Man from MegaMan 2.
For fun, I did all of this so far off the top of my head with no reference.

Quick Man (unfinished)

Quick Man from MegaMan 2.
For fun, I did all of this so far off the top of my head with no reference.

Atop the Fourth Wall Jazz
A sort of jazzy ridiculous version of the theme song from Atop the Fourth Wall, a video series on That Guy with the Glasses
that reviews comics. Sorry, lousy brass, that's what you get for free.

To Cerulean City (unfinished)
The route that leads to Cerulean City in the original Pokemon games.
This is the most nostalgic video game song of all time for me (even though Blue was far from my first game).

Miscellaneous doodles

Miscellaneous Game Doodles 03

More random game characters.
Clockwise from the top-left we have Wander from Shadow of the Colossus, Rayman, Waluigi, Klonoa, Sami from Advance Wars, Jeff from EarthBound firing a bazooka, Inspector Chelmey from Professor Layton, and Link.

SBP Doodles 08

Just doodles off the top of my head.
I don't have much to say about these except that they're kinda really ugly.

Holly with a Shovel and a colored Link

Holly with a Shovel

A picture of Holly/Gold/Goldwright/whatever-the-hell-else-she's-known-as because she is awesome. <3
I was up late playing Minecraft last night. I'll color this at some point.

I also really quickly messed with one of my Link doodles in Photoshop (for once)!

Not much to see, I'm not adding it to my drawings list or anything.

Link doodle and Woodring Glade

A couple miscellaneous stuff.

Link Doodles

I'm trying something a little new here.
I've been gradually shifting towards drawing rounder features (such as eyes and noses) for a long time now, so I tried going a little more all-out with it here (particularly the eyes and face shape). It's kind of hit-and-miss but I'll try practicing it.
For a bit of reference of how I drew Link's face previously, there's this comic.

Made using: SketchBook Pro and a tablet.

 Paper Zelda-- Woodring Glade
The opening forest area where Link lives in my paper Zelda fan game. I don't really think I successfully captured the atmosphere of either Paper Mario or Zelda, but oh well.

Drawings page

I added the aforementioned drawings page (what a pain it was to do so with all that crap).
The lists are sorted into two categories (doodles and... slightly-better-than-doodles), and they're sorted from newest (at the top) to oldest. I'll be gradually adding some older stuff to the bottom too, since even my deviantArt account has some older stuff than this. It'll take a while but from now on hopefully I'll update the drawings and music as they come.

Finally use this blog for something.

Added a music section

Look at me, pretending I have an audience.

Anyway, I added a section for the music I sometimes make. I'm lousy at music and have absolutely no technical knowledge of it, but whatever. I often just do it for the fun of it and try to recreate/reimagine existing songs, usually from video games, by ear using FL Studio, but I also often do original music for my own personal projects (like animations or games). Those are less likely to show up here until I get said projects finished, though.

You can listen to the music either using the embedded widget from Box.net or the individual links in the nifty shrinkable spoiler tags if the widget doesn't work for you or is otherwise inconvenient.

I may start doing something similar to drawings and other doodles I have, slowly adding some to a page of their own.
Maybe it's time I put this blog to actual use.

Oh, and that Wind Waker comic... yeah, I dunno. I'll do more but who knows when.
